In My Name: The First Month Tells the Truth

The bills arrived before the boxes fully disappeared.
That’s usually how it goes.

Moving feels symbolic at first.
New space. New routines. New energy.
But the reality sets in quietly…

when accounts update,

when receipts add up,

when you realize which purchases actually matter.

  • Letting go of items that no longer belonged (including lots of clothes)
  • Cleaning the space before trying to make it comfortable

Preparing before the move turned out to be a form
of self-respect.

  • Rushing the timeline added pressure that didn’t need to exist
  • Moving without help cost more in energy than it saved in money
  • And groceries…

Groceries cost more than they used to,
and pretending otherwise was optimistic at best
